To Whoever Might Find This
Chapter 1: I watch from my window as the smoke from the city center gets darker and darker. A global war larger than we’ve ever seen has broken out. But rent is still due. So each day, I wake up in the morning and go to work, and wonder which day will be my last. All of my friends have cut off contact, each one bitter that I did too little, or too much. The power has been shut off, leaving only the light from the fires in the distance and some candles to light my room. I have so many thoughts and emotions, but no one to talk to, so I sit down and start to write...
To whoever might find this
I don’t want you to be sad
This is all I really wanted
Now you’ll get to know me
When the light is gone
To whoever might find this
Remember that I tried
To give you everything
So you can do better
When the light is gone
But I’ll never know what it’s like to have something to say
I’ll miss the feel of the sun and the sound of the rain
I’ll miss the tears on my cheek as I’m fading away
But you’ll get to live in a world that’s better without me
To whoever might find this
There was a beautiful sunset today
Sometimes the most beautiful moments
Are just before the light is gone
Remember those moments of green and light and peace
Cause falling from this life is just like going to sleep
But maybe have another cup of coffee

But I’ll never know what it’s like to have something to say
I’ll miss the feel of the sun and the sound of the rain
I’ll miss the tears on my cheek as I’m fading away
But you’ll get to live in a world that’s better without me
